Our Yoga Hikes Winter Reviver at Windermere in the Lake District was a bit chilly but lots of fun and a fantastic weekend break. We had great views of snow covered mountains, scenic walks beside the Lake, four classes of rejuvenating yoga and were well looked after with wonderful food and accommodation at the Windermere centre.
The weekend was a great success and we have already received some lovely comments and reviews about the break.
“I completed the yoga and hiking weekend in Windermere. I had a fantastic time, great walks and yoga for mixed abilities. Yen and Kev are lovely; they were supportive and made you feel welcomed. I’m trying to decide which hike to do next. Thank you x” – YSH
“Great Organisation, great hiking and yoga and a great group. Will be back. “ – SC
We started the day as always with an early morning yoga class in the hall. Its a lovely building and thankfully the heating had been put on early for us as well!
Then back to the centre for a lovely selection of cereals, fruit and cooked breakfast, with vegetarian options. We then gathered together outside the centre to get ready for our day hike.
Our Saturday hike for this yoga hikes winter break was down through the lovely village of Bowness to catch the short ferry ride across to the western shore. We then headed across to the village of near Sawrey and stopped for a short break beside the beautiful tarn of Moss Eccles.
As we climbed higher, we started to get some great distant views of the Coniston and Langdale mountains with snow covering the tops.
We continued our hike down to the Windermere Lake shore at Belle Grange then returned beside the Lake to Ferry house, for the short ride back across the lake.
Back at the centre we had time to relax, refresh and warm up with lots of Yen’s homemade cake, tea and coffee.
After a break and time to relax we had our second yoga class at 5pm and then it was time for dinner at 7pm. We had a delicious dinner served to us by staff from the centre, with vegetarian and meat choices. The a few people still had the energy to make it to the pub across the road for a final few drinks at the end of the day.
After yoga and breakfast on Sunday we caught a longer ferry ride from Bowness up the lake to Ambleside. We were able to catch spectacular views of the snow covered mountains from the cruise.
When we arrived at Waterhead we were so lucky to catch a pair of otters fishing in the Lake beside the pier.
Then it was off on our hike for the day. Our route on Sunday took us up to Jenkins Crag for fine views over Windermere, then across to Troutbeck.
Our hike then continued across open fields and lanes with more spectacular views of the lake.
The final section takes us up to Orrest head with more great views and a quick snack stop before heading down hill through the village of Windermere and back to the Centre.
We then still had time for one last yoga class followed by tea, coffee and some of Yen’s delicious homemade brownies before departing.
A great weekend and we thoroughly enjoyed meeting everyone in a really fun group.
