This was the first Yewfield Yoga Hikes break we had run here and it was a stunning success.
This is what Gabriella wrote after the trip:
“ Thank you so much Kevin and Yen for my best yoga hiking break yet. I shall definitely see you again next year . Take care, Gabriella ”
And this was from Caroline:
“Thank you for a truly lovely weekend. It is something I definitely intend to do again.”
And TB said:
“The venue was perfect, the walks were amazing, and of course the food – wonderful! All in all, it was a great trip and I’ve already told all my friends and a few colleagues how great it was. “
Yewfield is the perfect location for a yoga hikes retreat in the heart of the Lake District. It has fantastic walks directly from the door, a stunning yoga studio that looks out over the hills and has a cosy wood burning stove for winter and has a cosy but luxurious feel. Yewfield has also been awarded a Visit Britain Quality in Tourism Rating of 5 Stars.
All of our guests arrived on Friday afternoon and evening, then we all met up for a welcome dinner on Friday evening. We introduced ourselves had a quick chat about what to expect over the weekend and then headed to bed.
On Saturday morning we had our first yoga class at 7:30 to wake up and energise ourselves ready for today’s hiking. The studio is in a great location with views over the gardens and surrounding hills. It also has a wood burner which the staff had kindly lit in plenty of time to ensure the studio was beautifully warm and welcoming for our early morning class.
After a our first yoga class we had a lovely breakfast of cereals, yoghurt, eggs and homemade bread in the dining room.
Then after packing for the day and picking up our packed lunch we are pulling on boots and gathering outside ready for hiking.
The weather on Saturday is a bit overcast and quite windy, but we are well wrapped up as we head towards the stunning Tarn Hows.
We then descend through woods following a gloriously tumbling river with amazing waterfalls.
Our route then takes us uphill for some stunning views from the windy summit of Holme Fell then a short lunch stop at amazing Hodge Close Quarry.
On the way way back we take in another windy summit at Black Fell with great views to Windermere and the surrounding area.
On returning from our hike we have the chance to relax and warm up by the fire while we enjoy Yen’s homemade cakes with plenty of hot tea and coffee.
We then have our second yoga class of the day before a delicious home prepared vegetarian dinner.
Sunday we start in the same way with an invigorating yoga class in front of a roaring fire. Then breakfast before getting ready to head out into the hills.
The weather on Sunday is glorious and a perfect day to be out walking. We again start our walk with more breathtaking views around Tarn Hows.
Our next stop is Coniston with more glorious sunny views over the lake.
Our return from Coniston takes us through woodland and gives us more great views of the hills bathed in late afternoon sunshine.
When we get back to Yewfield we have our final yoga class of the weekend, to stretch out and loosen up tired muscles. Then time for more tea and cake beside the fire to prepare for goodbyes and the journey home.
It was a great weekend and the staff at Yewfield were wonderfully welcoming, helpful and friendly. It was the perfect base, with some great hikes exploring the best of the Lake District. The yoga studio is also perfect and we cannot wait for our next Yewfield Yoga Hikes break in February.
