Yewfield near Tarn Hows was the ideal location for our latest YogaHikes break in the Lake District. Yewfield is a 5* vegetarian Guest House with one of the best Yoga studios we have found, stunning views and great accommodation.

Yewfield Weekend Yoga and Hiking Break
We started our break with our first yoga class at 6pm on Friday evening. It was a gentle class to relax and decompress after the travel and to begin our weekend.
We then had a gorgeous vegetarian dinner followed by our evening briefing about what to expect for the rest of the weekend, plus timings and schedule.
Yewfield Yoga Hikes Break – Saturday
The forecast for Saturday was for quite a lot of rain, without even the hope of a few dry or sunny intervals. So we re-arranged the schedule a little bit to offer an extra yoga class late morning for those who weren’t looking forward to a day of walking in the rain. We also offered the option to return after a short walk around Tarn Hows, for those who wanted to get out for an hour or so, but not the full hike.
We of course started the day with Yoga to stretch and energise our bodies ready for the day. Then we headed in for a healthy and nutritious breakfast. After breakfast we packed our rucksacks, collected our lunch and put on as many waterproof layers as possible to prepare for our hike.
We set off for our hike, with those who had chosen to join us, up to the lovely area of Tarn Hows. After hiking half way round we parted company with those who wanted to head back. We then continued on with the rest of our intrepid group to explore the waterfalls and rivers which were close to bursting their banks.
There is always something to explore in the lakes and wet days give us great views of waterfalls and exciting rivers.
After quite a fun and adventurous hike we returned to Yewfield for hot showers, cosy wood burning stoves and of course tea (or coffee) and cake.
One of our favourite things about Yewfield are the wood burning stoves. They keep these well stoked which means whatever the weather we have warm and cosy yoga and areas to relax.
After our hikes we make use of the bolsters for relaxing and gently stretching any aching muscles.
We finished the day with another healthy and nutricuous dinner, specially prepared for us by the staff at Yewfield.
Yewfield Yoga Hikes Break – Sunday
On Sunday we again start the day with our yoga class to waken our bodies and prepare for the day. Then its into breakfast to further prepare our bodies with a healthy and filling breakfast.
The weather forecast is much better today as we all gather outside ready for our hike. We then head up to Tarn Hows for stunning views of the lake and snow covered hills.
The views really are so much better than the previous day with a fresh sprinkling of snow on the hills.
We have a lovely hike through forest and down to the lake at Coniston, before slowly making our return back towards Yewfield. On the way back we are greeted with a spectacular rainbow.
And even more stunning views of the hills and lake.
When we return we have our final yoga class of the weekend. Followed of course, by more tea, coffee and cake baked by Yen.
We had a great group, who we thoroughly enjoyed spending time with over the weekend. Despite the weather on Saturday we had a fantastic weekend which, judging by the comments afterwards, we all thoroughly enjoyed.
