Join us for a mid summer yoga hiking break at the beautiful Brathay Hall surrounded by the stunning Lake District countryside. Summer is the perfect time to explore the stunning countryside, lakes and mountain views. We even have access to the lake if the weather is kind and you fancy an extra adventure.

The impressive Brathay Hall is set in 360 acres of mature woodland and rolling pasture, at the head of Windermere.

Description

Our Lake District Yoga Hikes break at Brathay Hall will offer the best of both worlds.  We will get out walking to enjoy the beautiful scenery in the Lake District and to practice yoga.

We will be based at Brathay Hall near Ambleside for this Yoga Hikes Brathay Hall Weekend.  The hall is part of the Brathay Trust which is situated in the heart of the Lake District at the head of Lake Windermere.  The impressive Brathay Hall is set in 360 acres of mature woodland and rolling pasture.  There is also a comfortable lounge and bar for us to relax in with stunning views of the grounds and lake.

The wonderful views have inspired artists and poets alike for centuries. Wordsworth, Coleridge and Constable have all been notable visitors to the Hall and its impressive gardens.  Also located just a 15 minute walk from Ambleside, with a great selection of shops, restaurants and traditional pubs, whilst from our accommodation we have access to the fells and mountains that surround us.

We have all standard rooms available for single occupancy or superior twin share rooms for this stunning Lake District Yoga Hikes break at Brathay Hall.  The standard single rooms are upstairs in main house and the superior Scafell rooms are in the grounds and offer fantastic luxury accommodation with great views.

All the superior rooms are flexible with ziplink beds that can be converted into twins or into a double for couples.

Lake District Yoga Hikes Brathay Hall – Yoga Classes

We offer a yoga class on Friday evening, and then two yoga classes each day and we will explore the stunning Lake District scenery on a moderate  hike in between.

Sessions will take place on Friday evening and before breakfast and after we return from our walks on Saturday and Sunday.  The general focus of the morning sessions will be to energise and warm up the body for our walk, and in the evening, will be to stretch out those tired muscles and relax the body. Yoga mats and props will be provided but you are most welcome to bring your own mat if you prefer.

We have a fantastic choice of walks available directly from the Brathay Hall.  On each day, we will hike from the door accompanied by your leader and provided with a packed lunch.

Your hosts, Kevin and Yen both live in the Lake District, know the area well and have walked extensively here.

Yoga Hikes Brathay Hall – Meals

All meals are included in the cost of the weekend. Saturday and Sunday breakfast, plus Friday and Saturday dinner will be provided by the Hall.  Packed lunches on Saturday and Sunday will also be provided.

Breakfasts are served buffet style and are good quality with a good range of choices.
Dinners will be a two course meal that is served to the table .

All meals are taken in the Hall dining room.

It has become a popular feature of our breaks to offer large quantities of tea and home-made cake at the end of a walk.

Please note that this weekend starts with yoga at 6.00 pm on the Friday evening, so please plan to arrive by 5pm.

If you would like to arrive earlier in the day, we cannot guarantee a transfer from Windermere train station, but it is possible to use the bus service or taxi, to get to Brathay Hall where you can enjoy exploring the house and gardens.

Our accommodation is in a fantastic location with many and varied walks directly on our doorstep.

For this event we will hike from the door each morning and provide you with a packed lunch.

Hike Information

Walk options will depend on the weather and current conditions.  However, these are typical options and if the weather is suitable we will be offering these walks, or similar.  If the conditions are not suitable the walk options will be reduced, but we will still offer walks whatever the weather.

Saturday : Loughrigg Fell and Terrace, Rydal Caves 12K, 600m of ascent
Sunday : Elterwater and Great Langdale, 10K, 250m of ascent

Please note all hikes will be led by qualified Mountain Leaders

 

We offer a yoga class on Friday evening before dinner and then two yoga classes each day.  Classes will be held in the Founders Room in the main house for the weekend.

Sessions will take place on Friday evening to get you in the mood for the weekend, then Saturday and Sunday before breakfast and after we return from our walks on Saturday and Sunday.  The general focus of the morning sessions will be to energise and warm up the body for our walk, and in the evening , will be to stretch out those tired muscles and relax the body.   There will be an emphasis on the breath and movement, and our priority is for the yoga to be enjoyable and safe for all.

Please bring your own yoga mat and pillow case as a minimum.  Other yoga equipment is provided (brick, block, strap, bolster, blanket and scented eye pillow), but you may prefer to bring your own if you have any.

Everyone who has been on one of these weekends all agree that yoga and hiking compliment each other perfectly and make for the ideal weekend getaway.

For this weekend, we have a choice of rooms : standard rooms available for single occupancy or superior twin rooms for twin occupancy.  All rooms are ensuite.

Standard Rooms (Helvellyn) for Single Occupancy £365 per person
There are a good number of standard rooms  located in the main Hall on the second floor for single occupancy.
Most overlook the front of the Hall with Lake Views.

Each room is equipped with an ensuite shower room, a plasma screen television, hot drinks facilities, a hairdryer, desk, wardrobe and safe.

Twin Share of Superior Rooms (Scafell Rooms) £315 per person
All these spacious superior twin rooms are situated at the side of Brathay Hall. They have been thoughtfully designed to include many sustainable and environmentally friendly features. All rooms offer a unique blend of comfort and contemporary design, with solid oak furniture, flat screen plasma televisions. Each room has an en-suite shower and a large window to capture the fantastic scenery, looking towards the fells and the Lake.

Optional Train Station Pick Up and Drop Off £10 each way

You are of course free to take any train you wish, but we are only able to offer 1 group pick up at the estimated times are below.  As you will be aware, train timetables are constantly changing currently, so will attempt to meet the following approximate trains.

Getting There

Suggested trains from Euston Station to Windermere, the nearest train station which is 5 miles away.
(These same trains can also be picked up from Manchester and other stops).

Getting Back

the group drop off will be to Oxenholme station to catch to 17:26 to London and other onward connections.
(the train times departing from Windermere to Oxenholme on Sundays have been reduced to only 1 per hour from 2 per hour)

We will drop you off after the last yoga class so the group transfer will leave at around 4pm. Please note that recommended train times may change closer to the time, if this is the case, the easiest ticket is still to buy a return from Windermere.
