On Saturday, after yoga and breakfast, we will be hiking about 9 to 10 miles to explore the local area around Tarn Hows. There are several stunning hikes we can choose from, but you should expect to be out for a full day and return to Yewfield around 4pm.
The hikes will include sections of rough and possibly wet ground, but will be mainly on good footpaths. There may also be significant uphill sections, so we can enjoy some good views and we sometimes hike to a minor summit.
On Sunday, we will do a shorter hike of around 7-8 miles down to the Lakeshore at Coniston, before returning through woods and climbing again to Tarn Hows.
We have some fantastic scenery and country to explore including the popular beauty spots of Tarn Hows and Coniston.
These walks are moderate walks of up to 10 miles each day. However, it is the Lake District and so there will be some steep and rocky sections and possibly wet and boggy sections. Therefore a good level of fitness is required and boots are strongly advised.
ALL HIKES WILL BE LED BY A LOCAL QUALIFIED MOUNTAIN LEADER
There will be a total of 5 classes during the weekend starting with the first class on Friday morning. We offer two yoga classes each day with a walk in between through the stunning scenery of the Lake District.
The yoga studio is in its own building just to the side of the main house with floor to ceiling windows and great views of the garden and surrounding hills.
The yoga is varied and so will be suitable for beginners as well as for those who have practised before and classes will take place before breakfast and after we return from our walk.
The general focus of the morning sessions will be to energise and warm up the body for our walk, and in the afternoon, will be to stretch out those tired muscles and relax the body and calm the mind. Yoga and hiking are a good combination, and everyone leaves feeling rejuvenated and re-energised.
Please bring your own yoga mat and pillow case as a minimum. Other yoga equipment is provided (brick, block, strap, bolster, blanket and scented eye pillow), but you may prefer to bring your own if you have any.
If you have any queries regarding the yoga sessions, please contact us.
Set in a quiet, elevated position with panoramic views over the Vale of Esthwaite, Lake Windermere and the Fells beyond, Yewfield is situated in over 80 acres of its own grounds. The house itself, with its impressive Gothic architecture, dates back to 1859.
The extensive grounds around the house include native woodland, rough fell pasture, a small tarn and a stream. The grazed pasture is carefully managed giving priority to ecological considerations, which qualifies it to be part of the Environmentally Sensitive Areas Scheme.
We have a variety of single rooms available for single occupancy and twin rooms available for twin share. All rooms are ensuite and situated in the main house, Rose How and the Apartments next door.
If you would like a single room, please book early to avoid disappointment.

Getting Back
On Sunday, departure day, there is a train from Oxenholme departing 16:43 (arriving London Euston 2003, en route other connections). We will arrange a drop off for this train after the last yoga class, for those who have booked pick up and drop off with us.
The trains from Windermere do not run regularly on Sunday, so having the transfer go directly to Oxenholme, saves time and means we can have a reasonable hike on Sunday.
The easiest ticket to buy is a return from Windermere or a return from Oxenholme (and buy the small local journey between Oxenholme and Windermere separately)
Please note that recommended train times may change closer to the time.
