Description

YogaHikes break at Brathay Hall in the Lake District offers the best of both worlds.  We will get out walking to enjoy the beautiful scenery in the Lake District and to practice yoga.

This will be a larger group, so there will be a choice of level for the five yoga classes.  These will be tailored to ability and experience.  So you can choose either an improver/gentler class, or an intermediate for those with some more yoga experience.

There will also be a choice of hikes on each day.  So you will choose from either a moderate hike or a more strenuous and faster paced hike.  All hikes will be led by qualified Mountain Leaders.

This YogaHikes weekend will be based at the former stately home of Brathay Hall near Ambleside.  The hall is part of the Brathay Trust which is situated in the heart of the Lake District at the head of Lake Windermere.  The impressive Brathay Hall is set in 360 acres of mature woodland and rolling pasture with views of the lake.  There is also a comfortable lounge and bar for us to relax in also with stunning views of the grounds and lake.

The wonderful views have inspired artists and poets alike for centuries. Wordsworth, Coleridge and Constable have all been notable visitors to the Hall and its impressive gardens.  The hall is located just a 15 minute walk from Ambleside, with its great selection of shops, restaurants and traditional pubs.   We also have access to the fells and mountains that surround us direct from our accommodation.

Lake District YogaHikes Accommodation at Brathay Hall

We have a choice of standard single rooms available for single occupancy or superior twin share rooms for this stunning Lake District YogaHikes break at Brathay Hall.  The standard single rooms are upstairs in the main house and the superior Scafell rooms are in the grounds and offer fantastic luxury accommodation with great views.

All the superior rooms are flexible with ziplink beds that can be converted into twins or into a double for couples.

Lake District YogaHikes Brathay Hall – Yoga Classes

We offer a yoga session on Friday evening, and then two yoga sessions each day and we will also offer a choice of hikes through the stunning Lake District scenery on a moderate or strenuous hike in between.

We have found that we do have a wide range of ability during our weekends from beginners to teachers.  So for this weekend, at each yoga session slot there will be an improver/gentler class for those who are new or returning to yoga, (also suitable for those who may have an injury or a specific concern) and also an intermediate class for those who practice regularly or those with a longer standing practice.

Please select your yoga class on booking.

Sessions will take place on Friday evening and before breakfast and after we return from our walks on Saturday and Sunday.  The general focus of the morning sessions will be to energise and warm up the body for our walk, and in the evening, will be to stretch out those tired muscles and relax the body. Props will be provided but you are most welcome to bring your own if you have them.  You will need to bring your own yoga mat and pillowcase as a minimum.

Your hosts, Kevin and Yen both live in the Lake District, know the area well and have walked extensively here.

Brathay Hall – Meals

All meals are included in the cost of the weekend. Saturday and Sunday breakfast, plus Friday and Saturday dinner will be provided by the Hall.  Packed lunches on Saturday and Sunday will also be provided.

Fairfield Room

Founders Room

For this weekend we will have a choice of yoga class for each session.  You will be asked to choose either an improver/gentler class, or an intermediate class when you book.

If you are unsure which class to select, please contact us.

We are fortunate in Brathay to have a number of rooms to choose from.   Classes will likely take place in the Founders room and the Fairfield room for the weekend.

Sessions will take place on Friday evening to get you in the mood for the weekend, then Saturday and Sunday before breakfast and after we return from our walks on Saturday and Sunday.  The general focus of the morning sessions will be to energise and warm up the body for our walk, and in the evening , will be to stretch out those tired muscles and relax the body.   There will be an emphasis on the breath and movement, and our priority is for the yoga to be enjoyable and safe for all.

Please bring your own yoga mat and pillow case as a minimum.  Other yoga equipment is provided (brick, block, strap, bolster, blanket and scented eye pillow), but you may prefer to bring your own if you have any.

Everyone who has been on one of these weekends all agree that yoga and hiking compliment each other perfectly and make for the ideal weekend getaway.

Any queries regarding the yoga sessions, please contact us.
