Set in a quiet, elevated position with panoramic views over the Vale of Esthwaite, Lake Windermere and the Fells beyond, Yewfield is situated in over 80 acres of its own grounds. The house itself, with its impressive Gothic architecture, dates back to 1859 and is the perfect location for a cosy mid winter yoga and hiking break.
The yoga studio is also stunning with views out over the orchard and surrounding hills. It has its own wood burner and radiators for keeping us toasty and warm, whatever the weather is doing.
Our first trip of 2022 is a cosy mid winter yoga hiking break at the beautiful Yewfield country house. Winter can be such a great time to visit the lakes, because of the possibility of cold frosty mornings and snow on the hills. So shake off those mid winter blues and come and join us.
Our Yewfield yoga hiking break is based close to the stunning location of Tarn Hows in the heart of the Lake District. So this is a scenic, peaceful and friendly yoga and hiking retreat in the heart of the English Lake District.
Yewfield is also ideally situated for walking and enjoying this exquisite region of rare natural beauty. The Lake District is a world heritage site and has been the inspiration for many poets and artists.
Yewfield offers vegetarian accommodation for non-smokers with stylish rooms, stunning views and peaceful ambience. Yewfield has also been awarded a Visit Britain Quality in Tourism Rating of 5 Stars.
Early March can be great time to visit the lakes because of a good chance of snow capped mountains, cosy fires and great hiking.

On Saturday after yoga and breakfast, we will be hiking about 9 to 10 miles to explore the local area around Tarn Hows. There are several stunning hikes we can choose from, but you should expect to be out for a full day and return to Yewfield around 4pm.
The hike will include sections of rough and possibly wet ground, but will be mainly on good footpaths. There may also be significant uphill sections, so we can enjoy some good views and we sometimes hike to a minor summit.
On Sunday we will do a shorter hike of around 7-8 miles down to the Lakeshore at Coniston, before returning through woods and climbing again to Tarn Hows.
We have some fantastic scenery and country to explore including the popular beauty spots of Tarn Hows and Coniston.
These walks are moderate walks of up to 10 miles each day. However, it is the Lake District and so there will be some steep and rocky sections and possibly wet and boggy sections. Therefore a good level of fitness is required and boots are strongly advised.
ALL HIKES WILL BE LED BY A LOCAL QUALIFIED MOUNTAIN LEADER
There will be a total of five classes during the weekend starting with the first class on Friday evening. We offer two yoga classes on Saturday with a walk in between through the stunning scenery of the Lake District. There will also be a yoga class on Sunday morning before breakfast and then when we return from our hike, before departing.
The yoga studio is in its own building just to the side of the main house with floor to ceiling windows and great views of the garden and surrounding hills.
The yoga is varied and so will be suitable for beginners as well as for those who have practised before and classes will take place before breakfast and after we return from our walk.
The general focus of the morning sessions will be to energise and warm up the body for our walk, and in the afternoon, will be to stretch out those tired muscles and relax the body and calm the mind. Yoga and hiking are a good combination, and everyone leaves feeling rejuvenated and re-energised.
Please bring your own yoga mat and pillow case as a minimum. Other yoga equipment is provided (brick, block, strap, bolster, blanket and scented eye pillow), but you may prefer to bring your own if you have any.
If you have any queries regarding the yoga sessions, please contact us.
