This Yoga Hikes Brathay Hall weekend will offer the best of both worlds, to get out walking enjoying the beautiful scenery in the Lake District and to practice yoga. There will be a choice of yoga classes during the weekend : beginner/gentler or intermediate level (you will be able to attend 5 yoga classes during the weekend), and there will also be a choice of a more strenuous hike or a moderate hike each day.
We will be based at Brathay Hall near Ambleside for this Yoga Hikes Brathay Hall Weekend. The hall is part of the Brathay Trust which is situated in the heart of the Lake District at the head of Lake Windermere. The impressive Brathay Hall is set in 360 acres of mature woodland and rolling pasture. There is also a comfortable lounge and bar for us to relax in with stunning views of the grounds and lake.
The wonderful views have inspired artists and poets alike for centuries. Wordsworth, Coleridge and Constable have all been notable visitors to the Hall and its impressive gardens. Also located just a 15 minute walk from Ambleside, with it’s great selection of shops, restaurants and traditional pubs, whilst from our accommodation we have access to the fells and mountains that surround us.
Brathay Hall Accommodation
We have all standard or superior twin share rooms for this stunning break at Brathay. The standard rooms are in the main house and the superior rooms are in the grounds and offer fantastic luxury accommodation with great views.
Don’t worry, if you are coming on your own (most of our guests do), we will match you up with a room mate of the same sex. All the rooms are flexible with ziplink beds that can be converted into twins or into a double for couples.
Yoga Hikes Brathay Hall – Yoga Classes
We have our own 2 dedicated yoga rooms on the ground floor and 1st floor looking out over the gardens. We offer two yoga classes each day and we will explore the stunning Lake District scenery on a moderate or strenuous hike in between. There will be a choice of yoga class at each session tailored to ability : beginner/gentle and intermediate level for those who practice regularly and you will be asked which class you would like to go to upon booking.
Sessions will take place on Friday evening and before breakfast and after we return from our walks on Saturday and Sunday. The general focus of the morning sessions will be to energise and warm up the body for our walk, and in the evening, will be to stretch out those tired muscles and relax the body. Yoga mats and props will be provided but you are most welcome to bring your own mat if you prefer.
Yoga Hikes Brathay Hall – Hiking
We have a fantastic choice of walks available directly from the Brathay Hall. On each day, we will offer a choice of either a moderate hike or a more strenuous hike.
Your hosts, Kevin and Yen both live in the Lake District, know the area well and have walked extensively here.
Yoga Hikes Brathay Hall – Meals
All meals are included in the cost of the weekend. Saturday and Sunday breakfast, plus Friday and Saturday dinner will be provided by the Hall. Packed lunches on Saturday and Sunday will be provided by us.
All meals at Brathay Hall (breakfasts and dinners) are served buffet style and are good quality with a good range of choices. All meals are taken in the Hall dining room.

We have found that we do have a wide range of ability during our weekends from beginners to teachers.
So for this weekend, at each yoga session slot there will be a beginner/gentler class for those who are new or returning to yoga, (also suitable for this who may have an injury or a specific concern) and also an intermediate class for those who practice regularly or those with a longstanding practice.
We will have two dedicated yoga rooms on the ground floor and first floor, looking out over the gardens.
We offer a yoga class on Friday evening before dinner and then two yoga classes each day. Yen and another local teacher will take all the yoga classes and will split the classes so irrespective of your level, you will have two teachers.
Sessions will take place on Friday evening to get you in the mood for the weekend, then Saturday and Sunday before breakfast and after we return from our walks on Saturday and Sunday. The general focus of the morning sessions will be to energise and warm up the body for our walk, and in the evening , will be to stretch out those tired muscles and relax the body. There will be an emphasis on the breath and movement, and our priority is for the yoga to be enjoyable and safe for all.
Yoga mats and props will be provided but you are most welcome to bring your own mat if you prefer.
Everyone who has been on one of these weekends all agree that yoga and hiking compliment each other perfectly and make for the ideal weekend getaway.
