Easter is a wonderful time to visit the Lake District.  The temperature is usually ideal for walking, the spring daffodils are out and its not too busy.  Lanehead is in a fantastic quiet location, but within an easy walk of Coniston and the nearest cosy lake district pub.  Lanehead itself is immaculate, in a wonderful old building, set in lovely grounds and we have it for our exclusive use for this weekend.  The yoga room has great views of Lake Coniston, gardens and hills and is conveniently located on the ground floor of the main building. We will be offering a choice of beginner or intermediate classes for each session.

The walks in the area are also wonderful and we will be offering a choice of walks each day. You will be able to choose either a lower level and shorter walk or a higher level and more demanding hike.  There is a such a great choice of spectacular summit walks and scenic walks available and we will choose equally enjoyable walks for each day.  You can mix your choice of walks.

We will offer easy or harder walk options on most days if the weather is suitable.  So for those who want to get up a bit higher for better views, we will offer a harder summit option and for those happy not to climb up hills, there will be options to stay lower down.

There are also beginner and intermediate yoga class options for each session, so we can tailor the classes more closely to ability.  So the weekend is ideal for those just starting out on their yoga journey as well as for those wanting to stretch themselves a little bit more and delve deeper into their practice.

This Easter break will include 6 yoga classes, 3 guided hikes, 4 nights accommodation, all meals from a light supper Thursday evening to Monday breakfast (4 breakfasts, 3 packed lunches, 3 dinners and 1 light supper).

Easter Yoga Hikes – Hiking

We will be offering a choice of hikes on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.  There will be two hike leaders, so each day we will offer a choice of a lower level shorter hike, or a higher level hike to summits such as Coniston Old Man or Wetherlam.

Because of its location Coniston is perfect for our Easter yoga hikes weekend and offers great options for both easy and challenging walks.  On Friday and Saturday we are likely to explore the village and the lakeshore walks around the Lake and the Coniston Old Man.  Sunday gives us the opportunity to visit Tarn Hows and some of the Fells, for those that feel up to a more energetic walk.

Easter Yoga Hikes – Yoga

At Lanehead we have our own dedicated room which we will use for our yoga classes.  Please note that on this break we are offering yoga classes tailored to ability : beginner or intermediate level.  On Friday and Monday, we begin the day with yoga classes for both beginners and intermediate yoga groups before breakfast, then head out for our walk.  When we return from our walk later in the afternoon, we enjoy tea with lots of Yen’s delicious homemade cake.   On each evening when we return, again there will be a yoga class for both beginners and intermediate groups.

Note that because we are tailoring the classes to ability on Saturday morning there will be a beginners class only before breakfast and  on Sunday there will be an intermediate class only in the morning, then two classes again in the afternoon.  On Monday morning were will be two classes before breakfast.  This means you get a bit of a break or lie in on one morning at least.

Easter Yoga Hikes – Meals

Dinner on Friday, Saturday and Sunday is a homemade dinner prepared by Kevin and Yen in the spacious annex room.

A light supper is also available on Thursday evening on arrivals for those who would like it, otherwise there are plenty of pubs enroute to Coniston that you might like to try out.

Easter Yoga Hikes - Dining Room

Breakfast will also be served in the annex and will be a self serve breakfast each day with a variety of cereals, fruit, yogurt, toast etc.

For lunch we will put out a selection of rolls and fillings with salad, fruit  and snacks for you to make your own pack lunch.

Please note that for this event, there will be a choice of hike each day, and you will be asked to choose upon arrival.

On Friday after yoga and breakfast, we will head into the village, then around the lake which gives great views back across the lake to the village.  When we arrive at the village there is the option to split if the weather is suitable.  For those feeling energetic and wanting to get up higher we can take a high level route to give great views over the surrounding fells.  The rest of the group are free to take a lower level, but equally scenic route.

Easter yoga hiking break hiking

On Saturday we will again offer options for an easier but still steep at times hike to some of the stunning beauty spot in the area.  A more energetic option would be to hike up to the summit of Coniston Old Man which is a great hike and popular summit and offers great views of Coniston and the surrounding hills.   Both groups will of course be back to Lanehead in time for tea & cake and our next yoga classes.

On Sunday we also have a wide variety of high and low level walks to choose from. Tarn Hows is a wonderful spot with great views and a lovely peaceful location after a bit of a hike up. Also the summit of Wetherlam Fell gives wonderful views of the surrounding mountains and of the Lake.

These walks are moderate walks by Lake District Standards of about 8-12 miles each day. However, as it is the Lake District, there will be steep and rocky sections and possibly wet and boggy sections. Therefore a good level of fitness is required and boots are strongly advised.

All of our weekends are aimed at people who have a good level of hiking and general fitness. Even the easier options are still a full day hike.

We have a dedicated room for our yoga practice with views out over the gardens to the Lake and mountains.

You will be able to attend 6 classes during this break.

For each yoga session we are offering two classes:  one gentler class aimed at beginner level and one more strenuous aimed at a more intermediate level.

You will be asked to indicate your class choice upon booking (please add to the notes section)

We offer a yoga class for each group on Friday and Monday morning only, and again a yoga class for each group each evening after hiking.

On Saturday morning there will only be 1 yoga class for the beginners (the intermediate group can have a lie in!)

On Sunday morning there will only 1 yoga class for the intermediate group (the beginners group can have a lie in!).  The reason for this is that we have found that it is good to have a morning off as two classes and a strenuous hike each day can be a bit too much of a good thing!

Yoga sessions will generally take place before breakfast and after we return from our walk. The general focus of the morning sessions will be to energise and warm up the body for our walk, and in the afternoon, will be to stretch out those tired muscles and relax the body and calm the mind. Yoga and hiking are a good combination, and everyone leaves feeling rejuvenated and re-energised.

A limited number of mats will be provided for your use but feel free to bring your own mat if you prefer.

Note: We have found that we do have a wide range of yoga experience within our groups which is why we have classes more tailored to ability on this weekend.  Those who are experienced (intermediate level – familiar with sun salutations and practice regularly) and a class for those who are beginners (new or returners to yoga) or those who prefer a softer/gentler practice.

Please be realistic as to your ability so we can make the classes more enjoyable for all.  The yoga room holds up to 15 people comfortably, so we will have to split the group equally between classes.  You will be asked to choose your level of yoga class ; beginner or intermediate at the time of booking in the notes section.

Any queries regarding the yoga sessions, please contact us.
