Sept 10th Covid Update to our weekends

Following the Covid Update Government announcement yesterday about limiting social gatherings to six people, we thought we should clarify how we will run our weekends now.

Firstly two extracts from the government websites on the announcements :

This is from from the government website:

Coronavirus (COVID-19): Meeting with others safely (social distancing)

Rules in other venues and activities

Venues following COVID-19 secure guidelines will be able to continue to host more people in total – such as religious services in places of worship – but no one should visit in a group of greater than 6. When you visit one of these places, such as a pub, shop, leisure venue, restaurant or place of worship you should:

  • follow the limits on the number of other people you should meet with as a group – no more than six people unless you all live together (or are in the same support bubble)
  • avoid social interaction with anyone outside the group you are with, even if you see other people you know
  • provide your contact details to the organiser so that you can be contacted if needed by the NHS Test and Trace programme

This is from Sport England:

Facilities and team sports

Most outdoor and indoor sport and physical activity facilities can reopen if those responsible for them feel ready to do so and if they can do so safely.

Outdoor facilities that can open include basketball and tennis courts, playing spaces like golf courses (public and private), playing fields, watersports, outdoor gyms, outdoor pools and playgrounds.

Indoor facilities such as gyms, leisure centres and pools can also now reopen, provided operators follow government guidelines.

Each venue, including council-owned sports facilities, should make their own decisions about when their facilities are ready.

Team sports can also restart when each sport’s national governing body has published a government-approved action plan and related guidance on playing safely.

Therefore, from the latest Covid Update and these latest guidelines events such as ours are allowed to go ahead.  Our events are organised, risk assessed and have covid measures in place.

We may however, need to introduce the concept of a yoga hikes mini group for the duration of the weekend. This will mean appointing mini groups of 6 and under for the hikes and social situations, such as tea and cake and meal times. Unless you are part of a family group, social distancing will still need to be in place within your mini group.

The yoga is good to go ahead with the measures we already have in place for social distancing and enhanced hygiene. When coming to yoga and leaving yoga, we would encourage you to enter/leave gradually so there are no pinchpoints.

We may also need to include a further walk leader for safety. But we believe that the walks can still go ahead as planned and we will just need to keep a good distance between the mini groups.
