We had great weather for our Rydal Centre Yoga and hiking break in the Lake District this weekend. Gorgeous sunshine and blue skies for most of Saturday meant great views and perfect conditions for hiking.
Saturday started with some gentle yoga to warm up our bodies before the days hiking in our beautiful converted barn.
Our hike on Saturday took us down to the lake at Rydal Water and up to the caves for a walk across the stepping stones.
We then hiked above Rydal water towards Grasmere for some great views over the lake.
We then followed the trail over Red Bank and down to the lovely village of Elterwater, before following the river towards Skelwith.
Our lunch stop was one of our favourite spots at Loughrigg Tarn with great views over the water to the Langdale Pikes.
After a relaxing lunch in the sunshine we headed up over the shoulder of Loughrigg Fell to Todd crag for some more amazing views over Windermere.
After returning back to Rydal the weather was still great, so a few of us headed down to the lake for a quick swim and to cool off. Others took the opportunity to relax in the beautiful gardens and enjoy some of Yen’s home made Chocolate brownies and tea.
We then headed back to the barn for our second yoga class of the day to stretch out tired muscles and relax further before dinner.
We had dinner itself in the stunning dining hall of the main house.
Sunday we again started the day with yoga to wake up the body and warm up muscles ready for the day ahead. We then head back to the centre for breakfast and to make our packed lunch for our days hiking.
The weather was a little bit more cloudy today, but it was still warm and dry as we headed along the coffin trail towards Grasmere. But before we got there we stopped off at White Moss for one of our favourite viewpoints overlooking Rydal.
We then hiked on to Grasmere for an explore of the village and a break for coffee. Our hike then took us down to the Lake and along the shore line.
Our lunch stop today was on the shore of the Lake, looking back towards the mountains surrounding Grasmere village.
Once we arrived back we had a quick change and then headed in for our final yoga class of the weekend. After yoga our final treat of the weekend was more of Yen’s homemade cake while we changed and showered ready to depart.
