Our October Rydal Hall Yoga Hikes break, was another fantastic weekend of hiking and yoga in the Lake District.
We stayed at the spectacular and historic Rydal Hall, set in the heart of the Lake District hills.
We all arrived on Friday afternoon in time for our first yoga class at 5:15. The drawing room was already prepared with mats and blocks. With great views out to the lovely grounds surrounding the hall.
After yoga we were straight into dinner in the grand dining hall. We have a three course dinner each evening, carefully prepared and served to us, by the hall staff.
It was then up to the library for a briefing on what to expect for the rest of the weekend.
Saturday we were up early for our first class at 7:30. Then it was in for a hearty full cooked breakfast to prepare ourselves for the first days hiking.
Our hike on Saturday took us out for a short tour of the grounds and gardens, down to the Lake at Rydal water, then up to explore the caves.
We then hiked to Loughrigg Terrace with its great views over Grasmere.
We had a short stop in the pretty village of Elterwater, before following the river back to the spectacular water fall at Skelwith Force.
We stopped for lunch at Loughrigg Tarn then made our way over to Lilly tarn and the great view point at Todd Crag. This gives wonderful views of Windermere and back down towards Rydal and the hall.
After arriving back, we had time to relax with tea and cakes in the hall.
Then it time for our second yoga class of the day followed by dinner again in the dining hall.
The weather on Sunday was a huge improvement on Saturday as we hiked to Grasmere and around the lakes.
Our route took us along a section of the coffin trail to white moss with stunning views in the morning sun.
Then we split into two groups. A more energetic group headed up to Alcock tarn with stunning views over Grasmere Lake and village.
Our alternative group hiked directly to Grasmere for a leisurely hour exploring the cafes and shops.
We all re-grouped in Grasmere for a short lunch break and then started our hike back around the lake at Grasmere. With time for a quick stop on the lake shore for paddle.
Then final leg of our October Rydal Hall Yoga Hikes break, back around Rydal water to the hall.
We had time for some quite photos in front of the hall, before heading in for our last yoga class, before tea and cakes and then departing.
Another stunning weekend of yoga and hiking in the Lake District with a great group.

“Super weekend, Yen makes five yoga sessions complement Kevin’s two hikes perfectly….food was rather good too and I can’t believe it went so quickly! Will book another I am sure of it…”
