Our October break at Rydal Hall in the Lake District was another great weekend of Yoga and Hiking.
It was a fantastic fun group and we were able to offer a choice of yoga levels from improver/gentler to intermediate and also a choice of hike each day of moderate, or strenuous.
This was just one review we received on Google following the break:
“Had a great weekend at Rydal Hall, so professional and superbly managed by Kevin and Yen. A great combination of yoga and hiking with options for both, helped along by good food and excellent home baked cakes! Would definitely recommend and hope to return”
An October break in the Lakes is a fantastic time of year to visit and we were blessed with good weather and lovely scenery with the first colours of autumn.
The break began on Friday evening with our first yoga class of the weekend. We had two rooms set up in the Hall for both classes and it was a chance to ease ourselves into the October break.
After Yoga it was in to dinner in the grand dining room at the hall.
After dinner there was a short introduction to the rest of the weekend and chance to ask questions and meet everyone.
Saturday morning started with our first yoga class of the day. This is a great way to start the day and gives everyone a chance to warm up and stretch ready for our days hiking.
Then breakfast at Rydal is always a treat with loads of healthy options in addition to a full English to fuel us up for the day.
Rydal is ideally placed in the heart of the lakes for some great hiking. There is also a great choice of low level and high level hiking, depending on your fitness levels. So on Saturday we offered a choice of a more moderate hike around the lakes of Grasmere and Rydal Water, or one to visit a couple of the summits ; Silver How and Loughrigg.
We all had a full day out and were more than ready for tea and cake back at the Hall. Then after a short break to relax we had our second yoga class. This is a more relaxing class with the aim of stretching out any aching or tired muscles following our hiking using all the yoga props.
Then it was into dinner again in the gorgeous dining room at Rydal Hall.
Sunday followed a similar format to Saturday with yoga first thing. This was then followed with breakfast. After collecting our packsd lunches, we were off out on our hikes.
We had two options again for hiking. One group headed up to Nab Scar and got some fantastic views over Grasmere and Rydal.
Our moderate hiking group still got some good views as we headed up from Ambleside and around Loughrigg Fell.
We completed our weekend with another yoga class to stretch out and relax after our hikes. Then a final helping of tea and cake before our journeys home.
