Our second break of 2021 (due to Covid) was another dry and pleasant weekend. Glaramara is an excellent venue, with great service, excellent food and accommodation, all in the most perfect setting in the heart of the glorious Borrowdale valley. So our Glaramara YogaHikes break was great fun and a great success.
We arrived as usual on Friday evening for our first welcoming yoga class. This weekend was slightly different to normal as we had to change the yoga location at last minute due to Covid restrictions still being in place. We had planned to use the conference room at Glaramara, but due to social distancing still being in place, the room had to be used for meals by our group. So we re-arranged at the last minute to the local village hall in Rosthwaite down the road. The switch worked extremely well as the hall had been completely refurbished and only finished that week. So we were actually the first in to use it for our Glaramara Yoga Hikes break.
So it was just a short drive along the road to the hall for our first class of the weekend. Then back to Glaramara for dinner which was excellent as ever. Glaramara provides good hearty Lake District food for hungry hikers. Which offers a nice change to many of our venues which are vegetarian only. They do offer vegetarian options and cater for dietary requirements.
After yoga and then dinner we had our usual introductory chat about the plan for the weekend.
After yoga and a good hearty Lake District breakfast on Saturday, we headed out for our hike up quite a steep hill on our hike towards the lovely village of Wattendlath.
We headed across the moor until we reached the village, with lovely views all of the way.
Our return took us along the bridleway to the village of Rosthwaite and back along the river to Glaramara.
After yoga we had dinner in what was in effect our own private dining room at Glaramara.
Sunday we again started with our yoga class in the hall.
Then we headed out for our hike along the beautiful river Derwent as we hiked up the Borrowdale valley.
And we finally finished off back at Glaramara with a final helping of tea and some of Yen’s cake.
So another weekend, with some great hiking and lovely yoga and a great group.
