For this Ambleside Yoga Hikes weekend, we were based at Brathay Hall with fantastic views of the Lake at Windermere. We also offered a choice of beginner and intermediate yoga classes at each of the 5 yoga sessions we ran, plus a choice of strenuous, or moderate hikes, each day.
Brathay Hall is such a fantastic location being based just outside of Ambleside and offering us some good quality twin ensuite rooms, with views of the grounds and lake. It is also a great location for walks giving us a variety of stunning harder and easier walk options for the weekend. We also have access to the lake for some swimming to cool off after our walks for those that are keen.
The weather was so stunning we even managed to get some outdoor yoga in front of the house with fantastic views of the grounds and lake on Saturday evening.
Our Ambleside Yoga Hikes weekend break started from 4pm for arrivals and then our first yoga classes were at 6pm. We had two yoga rooms and yoga teachers which gave everyone a choice of a beginner or intermediate class to suit their own level. Then it was in for dinner, prepared for us by the Hall staff at 7:30. After dinner there is a great bar to relax in or its a chance to take a stroll around the grounds and explore.
On Saturday we started with our second yoga class of the weekend at 7:30, then an optional cooked breakfast before picking up packed lunches and getting ready for our first hike. It was also a great opportunity for a group photo before we each headed off for our respective walks for the day.
We have found that on many of our weekends we get a wide range of fitness levels, with some people keen to explore the hills and maybe take in a summit and others happy to take a leisurely explore of the lower levels and lakeshore. So for this weekend we were also offering a choice of walks to suit most abilities and fitness levels. One group headed out to the village of Troutbeck and then up to the summit of Wansfell for stunning views of Windermere.
We also just had time to head up to Todd Crag for more stunning views of Windermere and a bit of extra yoga practice.
The second group took more leisurely hike around Loughrigg Fell, visiting the caves at Rydal, the views from Loughrigg Fell and the tarn.
When we returned from our hikes we had plenty of tea and homemade cakes out on the lawn to rest and recover.
Our next yoga classes were scheduled at 6pm and the weather was still so glorious we couldn’t resist the opportunity to hold the classes outside overlooking the lake and grounds.
Then it was back inside for a delicious dinner in the hall and relax for the rest of the rest of the evening.
It was just the most perfect day in the Lake District.
Sunday started with more early morning yoga to wake up and energise before our hikes. Our hikes today were a choice of a summit hike up to the top of Loughrigg fell for stunning views of Grasmere, Rydal and the surrounding mountains. Or alternatively a more leisurely hike to explore the Langdale Valley, Skelwith and Elterwater.
Finally, the weekend was topped off with our last yoga class, more tea and cake and a refreshing swim in the lake for those that fancied it.
A fantastic weekend, with a brilliant group in the most stunning surroundings of the Lake District.
