Most of our breaks are run and hosted by Kevin and Yen, with Kevin leading the hikes and Yen teaching the yoga classes.
As we increase the number of trips we run we are also expanding our team to take advantage of other teachers and mountain leaders with great local knowledge and experience.
Yen – Founder
Yen is a qualified yoga teacher with a specialist interest in yoga for sport, and has practiced yoga for around 25 years. She enjoys the great outdoors ; hiking, trekking, climbing, running and skiing, and is also a qualified personal trainer and yoga sports coach. Apart from running Yoga Hikes, Yen also teaches groups and private clients locally in the Lake District. Yen is registered with Yoga Alliance Professionals and is also trained as a Walking Group Leader.
Kevin – Founder
Kevin is a fully qualified UK and International Mountain Leader who has led treks and walks for international and UK companies in Nepal, Africa and UK. In addition he climbs regularly, is Single Pitch Award climbing trained, a keen cyclist and has led a Lands End to John O’Groats ride. He has summited several 4000m peaks in the Alps, trekked in the Everest Region, led a trek across the alps from Chamonix to Zermatt. Kevin is a member of the Mountain Training Association and BAIML (British Association of International Mountain Leaders).
Imogen is a yoga teacher trained with the British Wheel of Yoga and teaches mixed ability classes around the South Lakes area. Imogen has been practicing for around 12 years and along her yoga journey she has worked with teachers of Ashtanga vinyasa, Sivananda and Iyengar styles. Elements of all these classical yoga traditions have developed her current practice and teaching.
When not on the yoga mat Imogen enjoys being outdoors in the Lake District and all the beautiful surrounding areas walking and looking out for wildlife.
Lou is the owner and founder of Evolve Yoga Cumbria, which was born out of the idea that yoga could be for the whole family and the wider community.
Lou’s classes are inclusive and accessible to everybody and Lou is passionate about creating a welcoming and joyful space in which everyone can mindfully explore and get to know our own amazing bodies, inside and out. Lou teaches regular children/teens, adult, pregnancy/postnatal classes and is also trained in yoga therapy for children & young people.
Home for Justine is bonny Scotland where her love for the mountains started very young. After a brief time in the commercial sector, Justine joined the army as a Reservist and took a posting as an adventure training instructor for the British Army. Justine is now a freelance outdoor instructor and has been lucky enough to work in some beautiful locations both within the UK and abroad. Justine also enjoys yoga and will start her yoga teacher training in September 2019 with the aim of promoting both physical and mental wellbeing and sharing her passion for the great outdoors.
Pete has been climbing mountains all his life and is qualified Mountain Leader. He lives close to the Lakes and recently completed the 214 Wainwrights in a year. He has led both day and night expeditions and helped teams on charity challenges, including the National and Yorkshire 3 Peaks. He competes in mountain marathons, from the Dark Mountains on a winter’s night to the Marmot 24 Hour summer mountain marathon, that help him keep his navigation skills honed.
