We were so lucky with the weather for our weekend at the fantastic Glaramara. Stunning blue skies and a gently breeze for the whole weekend.
Glaramara in Borrowdale is in the most fantastic position at the head of one of the most beautiful valleys in the Lake District.
It was a great group and we fully explored both sides of the valley over the weekend. We also had 5 yoga classes to enjoy and to help prepare for our hikes and warm down and stretch after each hike.
Saturday at Glaramara in Borrowdale
On Saturday we started at Ashness Bridge, which is a stunning viewpoint and lovely old packhorse bridge, before we headed along the lane to Surprise View. Where we had amazing views of Derwentwater, Skiddaw and other surrounding hills.
We next trekked through woodlands and followed the river to the picturesque village of Watendlath, where we stopped for a short break and coffee
We then headed across the fell for short while before our descent towards the valley floor. And a relaxing lunch in the sunshine.
On our return to Glaramara in Borrowdale we had tea and cake, a short rest and then yoga to stretch out after our walk. This was followed by a lovely dinner, with proper Lake District portions!
Sunday we started with more yoga and where even a pheasant looked tempted to join us. Then after a fantastic full breakfast we headed out for another day on the fells. Today we followed the lovely river Derwent to the pretty village of Grange before heading a little higher up the fell for the route back. to get full advantage of the views of the surrounding hills.
After a final session of yoga, followed by more tea and cake, it was time to say our sad goodbyes, after a very special weekend.
